Athiradi collected Rs. 2.10 crore on its Day 6, registering a drop of just 10 per cent from the previous day. The action comedy drama, starring Basil Joseph and Tovino Thomas, took its running cume to the Rs. 25 crore mark at the Kerala box office.

Directed by Arun Anirundhan, Athiradi turned out to be a successful venture. The movie will close its first week around Rs. 26-27 crore and then will face the giant Drishyam 3 from the second weekend onwards. Since the Mohanlal starrer will have the widest possible release, Athiradi will slow down in the second week; however, it can gain traction in the long run if it manages to sustain.

Depending on how it performs against Drishyam 3, it will determine how far it can go at the box office.

Box Office Collections of Athiradi in Kerala are as follows:

Day Box Office
Previews Rs. 0.60 crore
Day 1 Rs. 5.40 crore
Day 2  Rs. 4.25 crore
Day 3  Rs. 4.75 crore
Day 4 Rs. 5.25 crore
Day 5 Rs. 2.40 crore
Day 6 Rs. 2.10 crore (est.)

Total Rs. 24.75 crore

Athiradi follows the story of Samkutty, an enthusiastic and overzealous college student who falls in love with his classmate. Over time, he gains popularity among his peers and decides to revive a long-banned festival at his college.

However, the festival was banned years ago due to the involvement of Sreekuttan Vellayani, a local goon and aspiring singer. As news of the festival spreads, the two become involved in a fiery feud that can only end in a full-blown brawl. What happens between them, along with the lore behind the festival’s ban, is explored in the movie.
