Athiradi Kerala Box Office Collections: Basil Joseph & Tovino Thomas starrer passes Monday test, grosses Rs 22 crore plus in 5 days
Basil Joseph and Tovino Thomas starrer action comedy drama, Athiradi, recorded a good hold on its first Monday. The movie is expected to wind up its first week around Rs. 30 crore mark.
Athiradi passed the Monday test with a good hold, collecting Rs. 2.40 crore on Day 5. The movie registered a 55 per cent drop from its opening day. The running cume of the action comedy reached Rs. 22.65 crore gross at the Kerala box office. Directed by Arun Anirudhan, the movie is expected to cross the Rs. 25 crore mark by Tuesday, and then it will head to close its first week around the Rs. 30 crore mark.
The Basil Joseph starrer will face huge competition from Mohanlal's Drishyam 3 from the coming weekend. That said, Athiradi might see a significant drop in its collections from the second weekend. However, movies with a good reception often work well even after new releases. Athiradi should also aim for the same.
It will be interesting to see how the action comedy will hold against the upcoming giant.

Athiradi follows the story of Samkutty, an enthusiastic and overzealous college student who falls in love with his classmate. Over time, he gains popularity among his peers and decides to revive a long-banned festival at his college.
However, the festival was banned years ago due to the involvement of Sreekuttan Vellayani, a local goon and aspiring singer. As the festival update spreads, the two become involved in a fiery feud that can only end in a full-blown brawl. What happens between them, along with the lore behind the festival’s ban, is explored in the movie.
