That day doesn't seem too far when we'll hopefully report Avengers: Endgame has surpassed the box office collection of Avatar. The Marvel Studios movie released in April and it has broken all box office records with its release. From recording the biggest opening collections to surpassing the highest grossing superhero movie, Avengers: Endgame stands at the second spot on the list of highest grossing movies of all-time. James Cameron's directorial Avatar stands on top of the list. For weeks, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have been keeping a close tab on Avengers: Endgame's box office, waiting for the Russo Brothers directorial to dethrone Avatar to clinch the top spot.

The MCU movie was re-released with some an unfinished deleted scene featuring The Hulk and a tease from Spider-Man: Far From Home. While it did help the movie bag the extra buck, it did not make a huge bang. However, slowly and steadily, the Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner starrer is inching towards the top spot.

According to a Variety report, Avengers: Endgame needs just another $7.16 million to beat Avatar. The MCU movie stands at $2.780 billion dollars worldwide whereas Avatar wrapped up its box office collection at 2.788 billion dollars.

Meanwhile, Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo are headed to San Diego this weekend to sit in a special panel in Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con 2019. The filmmakers will be attending the SDCC to discuss the epic Avengers movies - Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame - with MCU fans. Gear up for some interesting insights into the biggest Marvel of all-time. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
