Bhooth Bangla India Box Office: Akshay Kumar's horror comedy collects Rs 12.50 crore in Week 4, nets Rs 154 crore in 28 days
Akshay Kumar's horror comedy, Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priydarshan, has a very good shot at crossing the lifetime cume of Housefull 5 at the Indian box office.
Bhooth Bangla wrapped up its 4th week at Rs. 12.50 crore, with Rs. 95 lakh coming on the 4th Thursday, registering a 35 per cent drop from the previous Thursday. The overall 4th week recorded a nearly 40 per cent drop from the 3rd week. That's a very good hold.
The running cume of Bhooth Bangla reached Rs. 154.50 crore nett at the Indian box office. So far, the film has had an open run at the box office. Starting this week, it will be facing competition from Pati Patni Aur Woh Do. If the movie manages to hold well even after the new release, it will storm past the Rs. 165 crore nett mark by the end of its full run. It even has a very good shot at topping Housefull 5, which collected Rs. 168 cr nett at the Indian box office.
Akshay Kumar has gone through a rough phase at the box office post-pandemic, with a string of underperformers. Last year was somewhat better with three films doing decently well, although they weren’t a HIT, and now there is finally a HIT film as well.
The industry tends to have a good time when Akshay Kumar delivers hits. He makes sure to do two or three HITs or successful films a year; it is equally important, as that keeps the box office ticking. This is something where Akshay Kumar stands out, as others in the industry, except Ajay Devgn, have significantly lower output, with some of them taking two or three years for one film instead. The box office in India is star-driven; it cannot be in good shape if leading stars are not bringing films regularly.
