Punjabi film Carry on Jatta 4 opened to Rs. 2.35 crore (Rs. 2 crore nett) approx on its first day at the Indian box office. This includes Rs. 1.60 crore nett approx from East Punjab. There was competition from Welcome to the Jungle, but that hardly seemed to be the case as it was a one-horse race in the Punjab state and several centres of Haryana as well. In most of the smaller cities of Punjab, it was 10-20 times ahead of Welcome 3 yesterday.

The worldwide first day for the Gippy Grewal headlined film is close to Rs. 4.25 crore approx.

Carry On Jatta 4 is the first Punjabi film in what feels like a long time to cross the Rs. 2 crore mark on its opening day, the last being Saunkan Saunkanay 2 in May 2025. That film managed to do that with holiday support. There was a holiday yesterday as well, but the impact doesn’t seem as pronounced.

That aside, the opening is below par for the standards of the Carry on Jatta franchise, which has given three All-Time Blockbusters till now, and all of them opened to BUMPER response, while here it can be termed as GOOD to VERY GOOD. Sequels, in general, seem to be falling out of fashion, or at least are no longer the surefire bets they appeared to be just a couple of years ago. Recent ones like Bambukat 2, Nikka Zaildar 4, Godday Godday Chaa 2 and others underperformed badly, while even Saunkan Saunkanay 2 could not quite live up to expectations. In that context, Carry on Jatta 4 has fared better.

The film looks like it will be growing today, with advances up from Friday, which is a good thing. Then Sunday should see another big spike. How it holds on Monday will determine its full run prospects. It will not be able to reach the highs of Carry on Jatta 4 and probably even Carry on Jatta 3, but something like Rs. 30 crore would be a good result, especially considering the current state of the Punjabi film industry, which has been desperately short of HITs.
