Cocktail 2, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead, is gearing up for a grand theatrical release this weekend. As of 10:30 PM (Wednesday, June 17), the romantic comedy drama, directed by Homi Adajania, sold around 26,000 tickets in the top two national chains, PVR Inox and Cinepolis, for the opening day.
With two days still in hand, the movie has a good chance of closing its advance sales around 60,000 or so, which will be decent sales for the film. Backed by Maddock Films, Cocktail 2 is expected to take an opening in the vicinity of Rs. 7 crore to Rs. 11 crore, with a pinpoint forecast at Rs. 8.50 crore nett at the Indian box office.
The fate of Cocktail 2 is crucial for Shahid Kapoor, as his last two outings, O' Romeo and Deva, didn't strike the right chords with the audience. While Shahid and Kriti have shared the screen space before in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljhaa Jiya, its first time for Rashmika.
