Deool Band 2 Final Box Office Collections: Pravin Tarde's film wraps theatrical run at Rs 85 crore in India, emerges 3rd biggest grosser
Pravin Tarde's directorial Deool Band 2, witnessed a superb run at the box office. The blockbuster Marathi film ended its run at Rs. 85 crore or so.
Marathi film Deool Band 2 exhausted its entire box office run on a promising note. The devotional drama, directed by Pravin Tarde, wrapped up its theatrical run at Rs. 85 crore gross at the Indian box office. That's a superb total for a film of this stature.
Starring Mohan Joshi, Snehal Tarde, Pravin Tarde, Mahesh Manjrekar, and others, the movie emerged as the third biggest Marathi grosser of all time in its home state. It managed to surpass Raja Shivaji's lifetime run in Maharashtra, but remained behind Baipan Bhari Deva and Sairat, both of which collected nearly Rs. 90 crore at the box office.
As for the Marathi film industry overall, it comes fourth, with Raja Shivaji getting to the top with Rs. 110 crore. That film had contributions from Hindi-dubbed versions. While the film is a top grosser, it is to be seen as an underperformer, as the potential was there for much higher, possibly Rs. 200-300 crore, as seen with Chhaava and Tanhaji.
Coming to Deool Band 2, it turned out to be a huge blockbuster and one of the most profitable ventures for Marathi cinema this year. Its success also echoes that good cinema always finds its audience, no matter what the cast and cost are involved.
