Disclosure Day India Box Office: Steven Spielberg's sci-fi thriller adds Rs 2.75 crore on Day 2, eyes Rs. 8 Cr weekend
Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day recorded a fair growth on Day 2. It is expected to record a decent weekend of Rs. 8 crore at the Indian box office.
Disclosure Day, starring Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Ferth, and others, added Rs. 2.75 crore to the tally on its second day, witnessing a 35 per cent jump from the opening day. This took its two-day theatrical run to Rs. 4.80 crore gross. The growth on Saturday is less than what was hoped for but the overall market itself showed less than normal growth yesterday for reason unknown. Whether it will revert back to normal today or not, needs to be seen.
Based on current trends, the movie is heading to close its first weekend around Rs. 7.50-8 crore gross at the Indian box office. The sci-fi thriller, directed by Steven Spielberg, should aim for a strong hold on weekdays, and close its total run somewhere around the Rs. 20 crore mark in India, which isn't bad for a Hollywood original film with no IP except the brand value of the legendary filmmaker.
Hollywood films are witnessing a winning streak in India this year, with back-to-back successful ventures that include Project Hail Mary, Lee Cronin's The Mummy, Michael, The Devil Weds Prada 2, and Obsession. The newly released Steven Spielberg directorial should aim to join this list. The movie is performing better than Backrooms, which was also released this weekend in India.
