Drishyam 3 Day 1 Worldwide Box Office Collections: Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph's film debuts with STRONG Rs 42.50 crore global opening
Mohanlal's biggest IP, Drishyam, returned to the big screen with its third installment. The threequel smashed a banger opening at the worldwide box office.
Drishyam 3 began its box office run on a phenomenal note. The family crime drama, directed by Jeethu Joseph, took an opening of Rs. 42.40 crore gross at the worldwide box office.
Of this, a huge chunk of Rs. 18.40 crore came from the domestic markets, while the international territories contributed nearly USD 2.50 million, which is Rs. 24 crore gross, as per Indian currency. This is the second biggest opening of all time for a Malayalam film at the global box office, only after L2: Empuraan.
Talking about its overseas performance, the Mohanlal starrer went all bonkers in the Middle East, where it grossed around USD 1.35 million. The movie also performed supremely well in the United Kingdom, raking in over USD 0.44 million. The Malayalam movie managed to collect around USD 0.42 million in North America, with Canada contributing around USD 0.12 million. The rest of the international markets made a sum of USD 0.29 million on its opening day.

Drishyam 3 is undoubtedly one of the biggest bets of Malayalam cinema this year. The original film was an Industry Hit, while the second installment missed the theatrical release due to lockdown. However, the latest installment is there to fill all the void for its cult fanbase. Thus, the movie has huge potential to challenge the top grossers, both domestically and worldwide- Vaazha 2, Lokah Chapter One- Chandra, Thudarum, and others.
It will be interesting to see how the movie grows over the weekend and where it finally lands.
