Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai Box Office: Varun Dhawan starrer collects Rs 1.20 crore on 2nd Tuesday, hits Rs 45 crore mark
Varun Dhawan's Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona is now running in its final legs. It is looking to wind up its entire run around Rs. 50-55 crore nett.
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai collected Rs. 1.20 crore on its 2nd Tuesday, recording a 15 per cent spike from the previous day. This took its entire running cume to Rs. 45 crore nett at the Indian box office. The romantic comedy drama, directed by David Dhawan, is heading to close this week around Rs. 47 crore, and then it will march towards its final target.
Based on current trends, the Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde starrer is looking to close its entire box office journey around Rs. 50 to 55 crore nett at the Indian box office. That will be an underwhelming total for a Varun Dhawan film. For the record, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai failed to strike the right chords with the audience, which is why it flopped at the box office.
The rom-com genre and mid-scale films are struggling in the post-pandemic times in general. One of the prime reasons is the erosion of the theatrical base by digital platforms. The current 8-week OTT window is directly undermining the theatrical business, conditioning audiences to simply wait for the streaming release. The makers need time to elongate the window to somewhere around 6 months and make the wait inconvenient for the audience. Otherwise, the genre is already suffering.
