Haunted 3D Echoes Of The Past Box Office: Vikram Bhatt's horror flick records GOOD opening weekend, mints nearly Rs 9 crore in 3 days
Vikram Bhatt's horror romantic drama, Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Drama, needs to stay strong on Monday to become a success. The movie has performed better than its rival releases.
Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Past collected Rs. 3.50 crore on its Day 3 (Sunday), registering a 15 per cent spike over Saturday. The horror drama, directed by Vikram Bhatt, wrapped up its opening weekend at Rs. 8.85 crore nett, which is a fairly good weekend debut for the cast and cost involved.
Furthermore, the movie performed better than its rival releases, which is kind of surprising, as the film has no such expectations. Now, all eyes are on its Monday test. If the movie manages to hold well, it will emerge as a successful venture at the Indian box office.
The original Haunted 3D, released in 2011, was a HIT at the box office. The director has also delivered several successful low-budget horror films, most notably the Raaz films. However, this brand of horror seemed to have lost its appeal as many of these tanked in the last fifteen years, making one believe that the time had passed over them. However, the box office numbers of Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Past suggest that might not be the case. Had the film been made with decent production values, it may well have put up much better opening weekend numbers.
It will be interesting to see whether the movie can sustain well on weekdays, as the word-of-mouth contradicts its box office performance. Nevertheless, this opening is a speck of positivity in what has otherwise been an utterly dull period at the box office since Bhooth Bangla in April.
