One of the most awaited films of the year, Kabir Singh released on 21st June. Audiences rushed to theatres to watch Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the romantic drama. While the film received mixed reviews along with criticism for glamorising misogyny and toxic masculinity, the actors were praised for their powerful performances and mind-blowing on-screen chemistry. It went on to become the highest grossing Bollywood film of 2019 and also became Shahid’s highest grossing film.

The film has had a successful run so far and has done exceptionally well at the ticket windows. The latest report in Box Office India states: “Kabir Singh is coming to the end of its run though will remain in theaters for another week to probably finish around the 277 crore nett mark. The collections will cross 276 crore nett at the end of the seventh week. The film saw its first major drop in the sixth week but week seven will see a lesser drop.”

Written and directed by Sandeep Vanga, the film is a remake of his 2017 Telugu hit Arjun Reddy which stars Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey. Jointly produced by Cine1 Studios and T-Series, the story follows the life of medical student Kabir Rajdheer Singh, played by Shahid, who is one of the best students but gets in trouble often because of anger management issues. He falls in love with Preeti Sikka, played by Kiara, who is his shy junior. However, Kabir goes on a self-destructive path when Preeti is married to someone else.
