Karuppu Advance Booking: Suriya and Trisha Krishnan starrer records Rs 5.50 crore of pre-sales in India
Suriya and Trisha Krishnan starrer action drama, Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji, is looking to wind up its entire advance sales at Rs. 10 crore worldwide.
Tamil film Karuppu, starring Suriya in the lead, along with Trisha Krishnan, is witnessing a good advance booking at the box office. As of 3:30 PM (May 13, 2026), the action drama recorded Rs. 5.65 crore of pre-sales in all-India advance booking. Of this, around Rs. 3.50 crore of advances were registered in its home state alone.
The movie is witnessing decent sales outside its borders. It crossed the Rs. 1 crore mark in its Telugu advance sales. Kerala and Karnataka have contributed around Rs. 50 lakh of advances each, while the rest of the Indian markets recorded nearly Rs. 15 lakh of pre-sales.
Many shows are yet to open advance booking in Tamil Nadu. It still has a couple of hours for the advance sales. The worldwide advance booking has crossed the Rs. 8 crore mark. It is likely to close around the Rs. 10 crore mark. The final sales of Karuppu are expected to remain under Suriya's previous release, Retro.
The fate of Karuppu will be crucial for Suriya as the actor has been going through a rough patch for a long time. The RJ Balaji directorial will put up a good start, but to succeed at the box office, it will need to impress the audience and garner a favourable word-of-mouth.
Karuppu follows the story of a lawyer who becomes possessed by a deity and fights against the injustice faced by certain sections of society. Apart from the lead actors, the film also features Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy, Yogi Babu, and several others in key roles. Additionally, RJ Balaji will make a cameo appearance. The film is slated to hit the floors on May 14, 2026.
