Karuppu Box Office Collections: Suriya starrer tops Rs. 100 Cr in India with an excellent Tuesday

Karuppu is now on course to collect over Rs. 200 crore in India, which would be more than double Suriya’s previous best.

Karuppu had another excellent day at the Indian box office on Tuesday, with the film collecting Rs. 14.25 crore approx. That marks a 15 per cent drop from Monday, which is generally considered a standard weekday decline, but at this level of collections, it is a superb hold. The five-day running total for the film now stands at Rs. 108.50 crore approx, making it the career best grosser for Suriya, surpassing the thirteen-year-old Rs. 96 crore of Singam 2.

With that, Karuppu has also become the first Suriya film to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark domestically. Not just that, the film is now on course to collect over Rs. 200 crore in India, which would be more than double Suriya’s previous best. When it rains, it pours…

Tuesday collections in Tamil Nadu were Rs. 9.50 crore approx, once again among the highest ever for the day. Among non-holiday Tuesdays, it ranks as the third highest of all time, trailing only Vikram and The GOAT by a very narrow margin. The gap with The GOAT was over Rs. 2 crore on Monday, but it came down to just Rs. 25 lakh on Tuesday. Quite possibly, the film could match or even surpass The GOAT in daily collections today. The GOAT had collected Rs. 90 crore after its first Tuesday in the state. If Karuppu manages that, it will close its run at nearly Rs. 160 crore; chances are it will do better.
