Karuppu Box Office Collections: Suriya starrer posts a superb growth on Saturday, Grosses Rs. 45 Cr in India in 2 days
In Tamil Nadu, the film collected Rs. 15.75 crore, which is the biggest single day ever for Suriya in the state. It is expected to renew the record again today, possibly hitting Rs. 20 crore mark.
Karuppu had a fantastic second day at the Indian box office, with the Suriya starrer collecting Rs. 26.75 crore approx. That marks a stellar 40-45 per cent growth over its opening day, bringing its two-day running total to Rs. 45.50 crore approx. The presales for Sunday are once again very impressive, and the film should be able to clear the Rs. 30 crore mark for Rs. 75 crore first weekend.
The growth was strong across the board, whether in Tamil Nadu or elsewhere. In Tamil Nadu, the film collected Rs. 15.75 crore approx, which is the biggest single day ever for a Suriya starrer in the state. It is expected to renew the same record today again, possibly hitting the Rs. 20 crore mark.
Karuppu has emerged as a HIT film. It is the first HIT film for Suriya since Singam II in 2013. The superstar was at the peak of his career during the early 2010s, delivering several major grossers on the go. However, the years that followed saw him endure a prolonged rough patch at the box office. Some of his films opened promisingly but failed to sustain due to poor reception, while others that found audience appreciation could not generate a strong initial start. Unfortunately, two of his best-received films didn’t get a theatrical release and were released digitally during COVID. For the first time in a long while, things have fallen into place together, and it's finally the long-awaited hit that had eluded the superstar for years.
