Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart (Hridayam) collected Rs. 3.25 crore nett approx on Sunday at the Indian box office, wrapping its opening weekend at Rs. 6.75 crore nett approx. The film also had Telugu and Tamil dubbed versions, which brought in another Rs. 50 lakh nett approx.

While these numbers are good for the face value and the release size, which is quite limited at around 700 screens. The costs involved are quite high, and for those, they are not good. Still, what stands out is the trend. The film doubled on Saturday, and then on Sunday also jumped by 50 per cent. The occupancy level on Sunday was very good, especially in Mumbai and the Southern circuits. This means the film has potential to leg out.

There was Mahavatar Narsimha last year, which was an animated film based on two of the avatars of Lord Vishnu. That film opened to Rs. 1.25 crore nett on the first day, saw exponential growth over the weekend to Rs. 3.25 crore nett on Saturday and Rs. 6.25 crore nett on Sunday. It eventually went on to collect Rs. 170 crore nett in Hindi. Krishnavataram is a live-action film on the Krishna avatar. The weekend trend isn’t as strong, but things could change over the coming days and weeks. These films are hard to predict. We also saw a film like Laalo: Krishna Sada Sahayate last year, which did almost nothing in the first three weeks and then exploded.

For now, the target for the film will be for the weekdays to hold closer to the Saturday level and then expand in the second week.

The Box Office Collections for Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart (Hindi) in India are as follows:

Day Nett
Previews Rs. 0.40 cr.
Friday Rs. 1.00 cr.
Saturday Rs. 2.10 cr.
Sunday Rs. 3.25 cr.

Total Rs. 6.75 cr.
