Mulk, a courtroom drama starring Rishi Kapoor and Taapsee Pannu released on Friday. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film didn't have a good opening compared to the other Friday releases that day, i.e. Karwaan (Irrfan Khan, Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar) and Fanney Khan (Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao). While Mulk made Rs 1.45 crore on its first day, Fanney and Karwaan managed to collect Rs 1.90 crores and Rs 1.50 crores respectively, at the box office.
On the second day, Mulk's collection was Rs 2.35 crores and Karwaan collected Rs 2.75 crores and Fanney Khan's numbers were Rs 2.25 crores. Thus, it managed to beat Fanney Khan on the second day of its release and maintained the same on the third day, i.e. Sunday. As reported by Box Office India, the weekend collection of Mulk is Rs 6.80 crores. The collection is more than Fanney Khan (Rs 6.75 crores) and lesser than Karwaan (Rs 7.75 crores). Box Office India reports that Mulk could have made more collection if it had a good single screen release. It would be interesting to see how much this Rishi Kapoor starrer collects on Monday.
