Obsession Box Office Collections: Defies gravity in India with Monday higher than First Day, Grosses Rs. 11.5 Cr in 4 days
Since the weekdays are holding at these high levels, the second weekend is expected to hold up strongly as well, possibly even grow from the first one.
Obsession held fantastically well on Monday, collecting Rs. 2.30 crore approx. That is 40-45 per cent higher than its opening day, when even staying flat is considered a very strong hold. The four-day running total stands at Rs. 11.50 crore / USD 1.20 million approx. It is on track to collect over Rs. 18 crore in the first week in India.
The film should grow today, as it's the discount day and the advances are considerably higher than they were on Monday. Since the weekdays are holding at these high levels, the second weekend is expected to hold up strongly as well, possibly even grow from the first one. A Rs. 30 crore lifetime seemed like a good target for the film, but it could very well be around that by the end of the second weekend, meaning it could go for a lot more.
The horror film is on a gravity-defying run in North America for three weeks, and now India has got a taste of it too. In North America, it opened to USD 17 million in its first weekend and is on course to collect over USD 200 million in its full run. Remarkably, the film reportedly cost just USD 750K to produce, which it should comfortably recover from just the theatrical share in India !!!
Obsession is yet another W for Hollywood in India this year, and once again, it came largely unexpected. It is turning out to be a superb year for the industry, and that’s when the three biggest releases of the year, Avengers: Doomsday, The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day are yet to come. If these three maintain this ongoing momentum, 2026 will be the biggest year ever for the industry in India by a wide margin.
