Patriot Kerala Box Office Collections: Mammootty and Mohanlal's reunion film continues to struggle, grosses mere Rs 50 lakh on 2nd Monday
Mammootty and Mohanlal starrer Patriot recorded another drop on its second Monday, hinting towards theatrical end soon. The Mahesh Narayanan directorial turned out to be a disappointing venture.
Malayalam film Patriot, starring Mammootty and Mohanlal in the lead roles, turned out to be a disappointing affair at the box office. The spy thriller, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, added Rs. 50 lakh to the tally on its second Monday. It registered a 35 per cent drop from its second Friday. The dip from its previous Monday is about 70 per cent. That's a big drop considering the budget, star-studded cast, and huge expectations.
The Malayalam movie took its running cume to Rs. 27.65 crore gross so far. It is expected to close this week, around Rs. 29 crore. Based on the current trends, it is heading to wind up its entire theatrical run around Rs. 35 crore or so at the Kerala box office. Patriot met with mixed-bag reactions among the audience, which is why the movie is struggling at the box office. Had the movie received a positive reception among the audience, it would have performed better.
While Patriot couldn't stand true to its pre-release buzz and expectations, all eyes are now on Drishyam 3. It will be interesting to see whether the Mohanlal starrer can stand true to its franchise's cult status or not.
