Patriot Kerala Box Office: Mammootty and Mohanlal's spy thriller crosses Rs 25 crore mark, heading to disappointing end
Patriot, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, and starring Mammootty and Mohanlal, added Rs. 80 lakh to the tally on its Day 8. The movie is looking to wrap its second weekend around Rs. 28 crore.
Patriot, starring Mammootty and Mohanlal in the lead roles, added Rs. 80 lakh to the tally on its second Friday, taking the total cume to the Rs. 25 crore mark at the Kerala box office. The spy action thriller, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, should aim for good growth on Saturday and Sunday and close its weekend around Rs. 28 crore or so.
However, the damage is already done. The movie couldn't impress the audience much, which is why it is struggling to gain traction at the box office. Had the movie garnered a positive reception, it would have recorded a better box office run.
Patriot was seen as a potential blockbuster from Malayalam cinema this year. However, it couldn't stand true to its pre-release hype. It is heading to wind up its entire theatrical run under the Rs. 50 crore mark, which will be a disappointing total for a film of this scale.

For the unversed, Patriot is one of Malayalam cinema's biggest films of all time. The movie marks the reunion of Mollywood's two giants, Mohanlal and Mammootty, after nearly 18 years. The next big release from Malayalam cinema is Drishyam 3. It will be interesting to see whether the Mohanlal starrer can stand true to its franchise's cult status or not.
