Peddi Box Office Collections: Ram Charan starrer off to flying start, scores Rs. 22 Cr in previews in India
The previews are the second-highest ever for a Telugu film, behind They Call Him OG, which collected Rs. 31 crore. They are significantly better than the previous film of Ram Charan, Game Changer.
Telugu film Peddi is off to a flying start at the box office, collecting an estimated Rs. 22 crore approx from preview shows yesterday. The bulk of the business came from the Telugu states at Rs. 18.75 crore approx. These are provisional figures, as preview collections are generally reported alongside the opening day numbers. When the final figures are released tomorrow, there could be minor revisions either way.
Additionally, overseas previews should come in at around USD 2 million, with the United States at around USD 1.50 million.
The previews are the second-highest ever for a Telugu film, behind They Call Him OG, which collected Rs. 31 crore, of which Rs. 27 crore was from the Telugu states. They are significantly better than the previous film of Ram Charan, Game Changer, which was around Rs. 10 crore. More importantly, the initial response from the previews seems positive, which bodes well for the film in the long run. The advances today are also very strong, with the film looking to open over Rs. 60 crore in Telugu states and roundabout Rs. 70 crore nationwide, both including previews.
This comes as a welcome development for the Telugu film industry, which is starved of releases, let alone hits. The year started well with the blockbuster success of Mana Shankara Prasad Vara Garu, but since then, it has been a drought. Peddi should provide some relief to the struggling exhibition sector, eyeing a potential big number given the initial reception is positive.
The Territorial Breakdown for Previews Box Office Collection of Peddi is as follows:
