No new entrant to the Pinkvilla Predicts tracking this week. This marks the final update for Alpha.

Alpha has kept a largely low-profile promotional campaign, releasing only a teaser and a trailer, with no songs. Both the teaser and trailer were competent, but the prevailing belief has been that the circumstantial negative buzz surrounding the YRF Spy Universe and the film itself would prevent it from opening well. And of course, there is the historical underperformance of the female lead action genre films.

In contrast, the initial pre-sales from overseas territories are, surprisingly, not bad. They are not big per se, but better than expectations. Recently, it has been seen that the response seen in overseas pre-sales mirrors that in India as well. The advance bookings for Alpha opens in India tomorrow, so it needs to be seen if this film does that, but there is certainly more confidence in film than it was a week before. As such, the forecast is revised towards the high-end forecast of the existing range, while before it was towards the lower end.
