Entering the “Pinkvilla Predicts” tracking this week is Main Vaapas Aaunga. This also serves as the final update for Chand Mera Dil.

First day box office forecast: Rs. 3-6 crore

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film stars Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, Sharvari. While Imtiaz does not have a particularly strong box office track record, he has cultivated a niche audience over the years. His films also tend to benefit from strong music. The presence of Diljit Dosanjh should help with opening in the Northern circuits of East Punjab and Delhi-NCR.

Having said that, the music hasn’t hit the mark for this one yet with a couple of songs being out. There was a trailer yesterday, which also didn’t move the needle much. The theme of Indo-Pak personal relations isn’t too hot at the moment. There is still time to release, and if the music could pick up by then, the opening could move towards the higher end of the range.

Other Updates

Chand Mera Dil is looking to open about as expected over the last couple of weeks. The music has done decently well, but not a complete home run. Advances were opened yesterday, the start of which is aligned with expectations. The film is getting slightly cheaper ticket prices of Rs. 149 for the first day, which would impact grosses a little. Accordingly, the first day forecast has been revised slightly downward to Rs. 3.50-6.50 crore from the earlier Rs. 4-7 crore range.
