Raja Shivaji Box Office Collections: Riteish Deshmukh starrer grows well on 2nd Saturday, Rs. 72 Cr Gross in 9 days
The Marathi and Hindi language split for the film stands at Rs. 50.50 crore and Rs. 21.75 crore (Rs. 18 crore nett) respectively.
Raja Shivaji collected Rs. 6.75 crore approx on its 2nd Saturday. The collections saw a very good spike of 75 per cent from the previous day. The week-on-week hold from the previous Saturday was also healthy, with around a 45 per cent drop. This takes the nine-day running total for the Riteish Deshmukh starrer to Rs. 72.25 crore approx. The Marathi and Hindi language split for the film stands at Rs. 50.50 crore and Rs. 21.75 crore (Rs. 18 crore nett) respectively.
The second weekend will likely be around Rs. 18 crore, for a total of Rs. 79-80 crore by Sunday. That keeps the film on course to Rs. 100 crore, in fact, a lot more comfortable after the 2nd Saturday growth. If the film reaches Rs. 100 crore, it will become the highest-grossing film from the Marathi film industry. The previous best are Sairat and Baipan Bhari Deva, both around Rs. 90 crore.
That said, there is also a sense that the film could have aimed even higher. The Marathi box office records were sort of set for it; the target was films like Tanhaji and Chhaava, which were also based on figures from the Maratha Empire. Tanhaji grossed over Rs. 175 crore in Maharashtra state back in 2020, while Chhaava went on to collect over Rs. 300 crore. Raja Shivaji is centred on the very founder and leader of that empire, long anticipated and made in the empire's own language. While the film has done well so far, it is no longer in the running to reach the heights which Tanhaji and Chhaava reached.
