Raja Shivaji India Box Office Collections: Riteish Deshmukh's historic epic collects Rs 5 crore plus in Week 4, grosses Rs 108 crore in 28 days
Riteish Deshmukh's historical epic saga Raja Shivaji is looking to wind up its entire theatrical run in the vicinity of Rs. 110 crore to Rs. 115 crore gross in India.
Raja Shivaji wrapped its 4th week, collecting around Rs. 5.25 crore. The historical epic saga, headlined and directed by Riteish Deshmukh, registered a drop of 60 per cent from the previous week. That's a fair hold, as the movie is now in its final legs at the box office.
The running cume of Raja Shivaji now stands at Rs. 108.25 crore nett at the Indian box office, with a significant amount coming from the Marathi version. Based on current trends, the movie is heading to wind up its entire theatrical run around Rs. 110 crore to 115 crore gross in India, depending on how it holds in the next couple of weeks.
That said, the movie has already emerged as the biggest grosser of Marathi cinema in India, surpassing Sairat and Baipan Bhari Deva. Though both of these titles were limited to Maharashtra only, Raja Shivaji saw a good release in Hindi markets also. In its home turf, it will likely stay below Baipan Bhari Deva and Sairat, and that’s what the core market really is, and that’s where it should have done record numbers as well. Of course, the expectations were for even higher as films like Tanhaji and Chhaava did extraordinary numbers in the state, the former adjusting to Rs. 250 crore today while the latter crossed Rs. 300 crore. Raja Shivaji won’t even reach Rs. 100 crore in the state.
