The Odyssey Box Office Collections: Christopher Nolan's film drops by 15 per cent on 2nd Wednesday, collects Rs 155 crore in 13 days
Christopher Nolan's epic drama, The Odyssey, is looking to end its two weeks at Rs. 160 crore at the Indian box office. Check out the details.
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey collected Rs. 4.90 crore on its second Wednesday, registering a 15 per cent drop from the previous day. The movie took its 6-day second-week cume to Rs. 51.15 crore. Going by the present trends, the movie will close this week around Rs. 55 crore or so.
Allied to its first week of Rs. 104.25 crore, the running cume of The Odyssey reached Rs. 155.40 crore gross at the Indian box office. The movie is set to face a new release, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, from today onwards, which is expected to dent its business. If it manages to hold well against the new Tom Holland film, The Odyssey will enter the Rs. 200 crore club by the end of its full run.
Driving the business is Christopher Nolan, who is one of the biggest film directors. In the film discourse in India, he is often talked about as a synonym for a “great filmmaker”. The director built a niche for himself back in the 2010s, which has now grown into a proper box office force, with his last three releases, including a re-release of Interstellar, drawing high demand.
Just like it was for Oppenheimer, The Odyssey isn't particularly a genre that has traditionally done big in India, with the best result probably coming for the 300 sequel. One can only imagine what Nolan could achieve with a broader-appealing film, say, an Inception or a Dark Knight, although the latter is an impossibility.
