Top Opening Days of All Time for Mollywood at Kerala Box Office: Drishyam 3 Second, L2 Empuraan remains on top
The top 10 opening days of all time at the Kerala box office has a heavy influence of Mohanlal. Interestingly, seven of these titles belong to Lalettan in some way.
Mohanlal's much-loved franchise, Drishyam, is back in cinemas with its third installment this weekend. The movie stormed an opening of Rs. 11 crore gross at the Kerala box office, becoming the second-biggest opener of all time. The top spot among the biggest opening days at the Kerala box office, excluding non-Malayalam/dubbed movies, still belongs to L2 Empuraan. For the record, the Prithviraj Sukumaaran directorial had an opening of Rs. 14 crore gross in its home state.
Drishyam 3 also became the second Malayalam movie to score a double-digit opening. All the other titles remained under the Rs. 10 crore mark. The third spot among the biggest Day 1 belongs to another 2026 released movie, Patriot, which grossed Rs. 8.50 crore. The list further includes titles like Odiyan (Rs. 7.20 crore), Bha Bha Bha (Rs. 7.20 crore), Marakkar (Rs. 6.60 crore), Lucifer (Rs. 6.30 crore), Turbo (Rs. 6.15 crore), Bheeshma Parvam (Rs. 6.15 crore), and Athiradi (Rs. 6.00 crore).
Interestingly, the film is heavily Mohanlal-coated. That means, 7 out of these top 10 titles belong to Lalettan. Either he starred in the titular role or made a guest appearance in these movies. Titles that have no Mohanlal's involvement are- Turbo, Bheeshma Parvam, and Athiradi.
