Uri Box Office Collection Day 2: Vicky Kaushal emerged as a bonafide star of 2018, courtesy his performances in Sanju and Raazi. The actor has kickstarted 2019 with a bang. His latest release, Uri: The Surgical Strike, has hit the screens yesterday. The movie has opened on a good note with Rs 8.20 crores on its opening day. Uri: The Surgical Strike is based on the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army on seven terrorist launchpads across the Line of Control on September 29, 2016, in retaliation to a terrorist attack on the Indian army camp at Uri.

Uri: The Surgical Strike, which also features Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal and Kirti Kulhari in key roles, has managed to impress the critics. Yesterday, trade analyst Girish Johar told us, “Uri started off quite well in the early shows and the occupancy is around 30% and the feedback that it's getting is it's going to increase to 50% in the evening shows. I am hoping for the good night shows as well.”

Here’s the trailer:

Talking about his experience prepping for the action drama, Vicky said in an interview that it was stimulating for him. He got to witness an army man's life from close proximity, and he indeed feels privileged to play such a character.

Uri: The Surgical Strike released on the same day as Vijay Ratnakar Gutte's The Accidental Prime Minister, which chronicles the tenure of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh when Congress Party was elected.
