January - we saw two strong films and both evoked the Indian in us - Vicky Kaushal’s Uri and Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika. Uri: The Surgical Strikes is unstoppable at the box office. The film stars Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Mohit Raina and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles. The film is based on the 2016 Surgical Strikes conducted by the Indian Army against the Pakistani terror launchpads across the LoC. Manikarnika revolves around Rani Laxmibai, who fought against the East India Company and the British to prevent her kingdom of Jhansi from being conquered.  Despite all the hurdles, the movie is remaining strong at the box office.

Going by the figures, Uri in its 28 days of a successful run at the box office, has earned Rs 197.88 crores. Fans loved how Vicky played this role and his dialogue, How’s the Josh, has become a rage. Despite a less budget, the movie has done wonders at the box office. In an exclusive interview with us, Vicky told us, “I think we are living in the time where good content only gets you good money. The content if it doesn't work with the audiences eventually, the movie doesn't earn that much money. It is only the content which works with the audiences. So, I think it is a beautiful phase where content and box office money is going hand in hand, and I am very lucky to be a part of such a phase of Hindi cinema. But content has to be the priority. If the content is right and the movie is executed well, I think people are willing to pay money for that.”
Kangana’s Manikarnika has earned Rs 83 crores in 13 days of its release. The movie was a part of many controversies and is still being attacked. In an interview with us, Kangana Ranaut was asked about working as a director for the film, and she revealed that this is not the first time she worked behind the camera. "This is not my first experience as far as supervising the edit or even directing a film is concerned. I was 23 or 24 when I directed my first film. It was a 10-minute short film that I had shot with an international crew. Also at that time, I was struggling with small roles in films like Double Dhamaal (2011). So I've been a director since then. Be it direction, writing or editing, I've already done it in the past," said the actress.

Keep the crores away.
Ladkiyon ke liye tho yeh film bahut hee badhiya hai. It is highly encouraging for females to have guts like Rani to dare for the Matrabhumi & save-protect Matrabhumi.
She louded this message for Indian Ladies/women to participate in the ruling of this great India. This is felt me as a Dharmayudh similar to Mahabharath. How she grew to the level of Rani & fulfilled her wishes & as well as she served natives who were suffering. She exhibited the care she has for the people of Great India. Jai Laxmi. Jai Bharat.

Good movie overall..kangana's acting good as always

While I have enjoyed Kangana's powerful acting is some super films, she has alienated most of Bollywood because of her demeanor and public battles with actors. If Kangs wants that Bollywood recognition then choose your battles wisely. If she doesn't then continue making good films and don't covet Bollywood.

Manikarnika is superb movie and Kangana is awesome. She has shown mirror to the so called super stars and self styled super actresses. She is a super woman

It’ll cross 100 Cr on a budget of 100 or 105 depending on whom you trust. The movie has done better than expected, her performance was praised unanimously. She’ll win awards, I think she should gracefully move on and keep working hard.

Uri made 3 times more than ManiKarnika and is a HIT

Kangana, Keep making films. Don't be disheartened by Bollywood not acknowledging you. It's all part of power and politics. Just remember that the audience loves watching you. You light up the screen. As a strategy, I would not give up acting if I were you because it is sheer delight to see you on screen. And a great way to keep your fans engaged. I know directing is your ultimate passion, but don't stop acting, just as yet. To keep your market position etc etc. Strategy and all.

Manikarnika was an awesome film. Take a bow Kangana. Bollywood praised Uri intentionally to pitch it against you but both film did great business.

Uri was released 2weeks before Flopnikarnika, how did they pitch it Alain your flop film jantana. U must understand that, people don't like u.

Nepo gang in shocking state.Kangana is having the best laugh at them.

Both the movies are great.

If it had been any other actress except Kangana, the movie would have been superhit...

Loved manikarnika and funny to see ugly Bollywood hanging up against such an important film

Mani is a utterflop movie trying to run on tail of Uri. Not gonna work Kangu. People dont want to waste their hard earned money on your crappy movies.

Shut up

Shut up

I hope this movie crosses 100cr because I want more and more woman oriented movies to be blockbusters.
