Welcome To The Jungle Advance Booking: Akshay Kumar’s comedy drama sells 15,000 tickets in top National Chains
Akshay Kumar's comedy drama, Welcome To The Jungle, should aim for a better advance in the final stretch. Check out the details.
After the successful run of Bhooth Bangla, Akshay Kumar is returning to the big screen with Welcome To The Jungle this weekend. The advance booking was opened yesterday, Tuesday, three days prior to its grand theatrical release. The initial response is somewhat underwhelming.
As of 10:00 PM (June 24, Wednesday), the movie sold around 15,000 tickets in the top two national chains, PVR Inox and Cinepolis, for the opening day, including Thursday previews. Currently, the pre-sales are less than Bhooth Bangla, which isn’t how it should be. The film has a huge IP value, but the promos didn't make use of that. It is also looking like a spoof film rather than a family entertainer, which is limiting its appeal.
The hope for Welcome To The Jungle is to close advances with better momentum tomorrow and aim to reach Bhooth Bangal final of 73K. There is a holiday on Friday for Muharram, which should help the walk-up business.
In comparison, the other two recent Akshay Kumar films, Housefull 5 and Jolly LLB 3, sold 96,000 and 45,000 tickets across the two national chains on their opening day. Jolly LLB 3 had fractured pre-sales due to VPF conflict between exhibitors and distributors, which means Housefull 5 is a better comp.
As per Pinkvilla forecast, the Akshay Kumar starrer is expected to take an opening in the vicinity of Rs. 13 crore to Rs. 17 crore, with a pinpoint prediction of Rs. 16 crore nett at the Indian box office.
