BTS announced as headliners for FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show with Shakira and Madonna
BTS will headline the first-ever halftime show of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
BTS is the co-headliner for the Halftime Show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final match happening on July 19, 2026, at New York New Jersey Stadium, USA. Curated by Coldplay's Chris Martin and produced by Global Citizen, the show will raise funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, as per an announcement on May 14, 2026.
BTS, Shakira, and Madonna to headline the 2026 FIFA World Cup Halftime Show
In a first for the football World Cup, which brings together the best of the best from around the world for a soccer tournament, South Korean titans BTS have been announced as one of the headliners for the halftime show. Seasoned stars Shakira and Madonna are the co-headliners for the event. With the project being helmed by Chris Martin himself, who is known to be good friends with the septet, it seems that their past collaboration on My Universe and with member Jin on Astronaut turned fruitful in the best way possible.
According to the FIFA World Cup, which shared the update on Thursday, ‘the Halftime Show supports the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, a landmark initiative working to raise 100 USD million to expand access to quality education and football for children around the world.’ Taking another step in the right direction, it has been revealed that throughout the course of the tournament, 1 USD from every ticket sold for the FIFA World Cup matches will be donated to the Fund.
As per an OSEN report, reacting to the announcement of being the headliners, BTS said, via their agency BIGHIT MUSIC, "It is a great honor to stand on a meaningful stage where the whole world comes together. We believe that music is a universal language that conveys hope and harmony. It is even more meaningful to be able to share that message with global viewers through this World Cup and contribute to expanding educational opportunities for children."
BTS is currently on its ARIRANG World Tour, with the next stop being the Stanford Stadium for shows on May 16, 17, and 19, 2026.
