After a poor performance in the World Cup 2019 campaign, the Afghanistan Cricket Board requested to allow their players in the Indian domestic cricket. However, the request was denied by the Committee of Administrators (CoA) and said that it would not be possible for them to allow the Afghan players play in the domestic cricket arranged by the Board of control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, the Indian board still looked for an alternative and have agreed to allow the Afghan players in their camps and training programmes.

“It will not be possible for BCCI to include players from Afghanistan in the domestic matches/tournaments organised by BCCI,” said the CoA.

However, the board has always helped the team in the development of Afghanistan cricket and they also played their maiden test in Bangalore against the Men in Blue. The board has also agreed to look into their request for an alternative venue for their international matches. It is said that the BCCI has most likely decided Lucknow to be Afghanistan’s alternative venue but also mentioned that their schedule shouldn’t hamper the domestic matches arranged by BCCI.

Even though Afghanistan ended at the bottom of the points table, the team has shown significant growth as far as their cricket is concerned and gave tough competition to the top teams in the world including India. The team will definitely emerge under their newly appointed captain, Rashid Khan who is one of the most efficient bowlers in international cricket.
