Realistic, hard-hitting lyrics have always been a forte of BTS’ music. Their raw emotions often come out in members’ solo songs or mixtapes. Especially in Min Yoongi’s mixtape AGUST D and D-2, which talk about depression and anxiety - and how to get back up and love yourself. On SUGA’s birthday today, we want to show one of the many ways how he has helped and inspired fans across the globe.

Today's heartwarming letter in our Dear Oppa series has been penned by Aditya from Sri Lanka to BTS’ rapper, SUGA. Read their letter below:

Dear Yoongi Oppa,

I'm an ARMY from Sri Lanka...and have been ARMY n SUGA BIASED for nearly four years now. If, in my life, I am asked about the best thing that had ever happened to me, without doubt I'd be yelling out to the whole world that the best thing that ever happened in my life was becoming a part of the ARMY super family :)

Oppa why I decided to write like this is cus I cannot keep within me the immense gratitude I have for you. You are more than a K-pop idol. You are an inspiration for life, oppa. I still survive because of your music. To people, it might just sound like another Korean rap song but the lyrics helped me see light and that depression is just a shadow over what you really can be. Teen years can be pretty frustrating and honestly I am not an exception. Oppa helped me overcome all that I was afraid of; social pressure, judgement, rejection, betrayal.. I could go on and on (lol). Oppa helped me see that I don't have to be what they tell me to be. Yes, it's YOONGI oppa and his music which showed me that the best thing I can be is myself and that I don't have to feel ashamed of who I am. Oppa taught me that it's alright to be weird, to be different and that no matter what happens in life, I should always love myself. Sooooo... Thnx oppa for showing me that I don't have to be who everyone wants me to be. And also for the massive love that BTS showers ARMY with. It feels so cool to be loved by those you admire and idolize.

I also wanna wish oppa (and the whole band) the very best for a BRIGHT FUTURE n hope that he will not fall ill ever ever again... ARMY did miss him so during the last few months... Keep on scoring higher and higher on award shows! Wish u all the very best n love u infinity!

SARANGHAE n BORAHAE 4ever n ever!!!!!

Love,

Aditya
