Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is not a film anymore, it is an emotion, a trigger for nostalgia especially for the 90s kids. When a tomboy-ish Anjali [Kajol] had a revelation about her first love whilst Tina [Rani Mukerji] and Rahul [Shah Rukh Khan] confessed to each other in the khets, our hearts broke. When Rahul met a newly-engaged Anjali at a summer camp, a meet orchestrated by his own family members, we smiled and when a handsome Aman [Salman Khan] finally united Rahul and Anjali in the climax scene, we all shed happy tears. The reactions were unanimous as a family and that has been the magic of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai that despite its numerous flaws and imperfection, is a movie special to us as much as it is to Karan Johar

With some memorable dialogues, scenes and bonds, KKHH made sure to remain etched in our minds for many reasons. As the film clocks in 20 years today, we can't help but indulge in some nostalgia and list down the 5 things which this Shah Rukh-Kajol-Rani starrer gave 90s kids to remember by. Trust us, it is difficult to list just 5 given that there have been so many moments in the movie which are magical but let's make an honest attempt. So, here it is:

1. Pyaar Dosti Hai: This iconic dialogue from the movie is everything one can swear by. Till date, it is the most simplistic definition of love ever given in the history of Indian cinema. Though the trajectories of friendships have changed today but what continues to hold true is that before being lovers, one needs to be good friends (agar woh meri sabse acchi dost nahi ban sakti toh main usese kabhi pyar kar hi nahi skate). Yes!

2. Fashion: If there was anything that drove teenage fashion in 1998, it has to be Rahul, Anjali and Tina with their tight fitted clothes, polo T-shirt, COOL chain and later chiffon sarees. It was a trend setter of sorts and till date, we cannot stop talking about how it changed the way one looked at college life then. KKHH defined college to be full of spunk and fashion.

3. Friendship bands: We don't think anyone cared about "Friendship Day" so much before KKHH. When the flirtatious Rahul presented the friendship bands to every other girl, we were introduced to a new culture...that of friendship and bands. Yo! It became the new cool!

4. The Shooting Star: Well, we had all probably heard of the shooting star before but to have such an important significance in one's life and to believe in it like you believed in your parents, the trend was started by KKHH. Let's admit it guys.

5. Lastly, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai theme song and the iconic rain sequence: We can go on about it for ages. The beautifully shot scene starting from rains to the dance to the KKHH tune to the revelation and the moment Anjali met Aman (Salman), has to be one of the most romantic scenes on the big screens and we are not sorry for falling for it every time.

Here's an ode to the movie which has been a part of our childhood just like Mowgli and Tom and Jerry. A movie with which we have grown and so has Karan Johar. It is flawed but isn't that the beauty of imperfection?

Salman was the real deal! He took the whole movie 100 notches higher!

I loved Salman more than SRK in this film, and i'm an SRK fan. I still believe Anjali is better off with Aman. She would have grown to love him. Rahul was a jerk. He didn't deserve Anjali. He didn't even have the guts to say "i love you". Did he even know of her heartbreak? No, he didn't. It still pisses me off even though 20 years has passed

Salman Khan was the best hero!

Kajol's best

Saman was the real here of this film
