Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon starrer Raabta has already soared the temperatures high on social media with their cracking chemistry. Raabta is a tale of reincarnation wherein their romance is rudely hijacked by Jim Sarbh who plays the villain in the movie. The trailer has now crossed over 16 million hits on the web. As people continue to rave about the trailer, there were a few who were seemingly not happy and were reminded of 2009 Telugu blockbuster Magadheera which was directed by SS Rajamouli.

REINCARNATION- the concept is not alien to Bollywood. From Shah Rukh Khan to Salman Khan and even Saif Ali Khan have been part of this purn-janam saga and while a few have proved to be blockbusters, however, a few failed miserably at the box office.

Here is the list of movies which were based on the similar theme of reincarnation:

Madhumati:  This movie starring Dilip Kumar and Vyjayantimala in the lead role remains one of the earliest films to deal with the theme of reincarnation and had a gothic noir feel to it. It is also one of the most commercially successful and influential films and has won several accolades including the National Film Awards for Best Feature Film in Hindi.

Mehbooba: This film starring Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini in the lead roles came two decades after Madhumati. The movie had iconic numbers like Mere Naina Saawan Bhadow, however, it failed miserably at the box office.

Karz: Starring Rishi Kapoor, this tale of reincarnation was told with a twist. Here, the hero is not born with the same body. Bizzare at it sounds Rishi Kapoor is born from the ashes of Raj Kiran. However, the movie which gave us iconic songs like Om Shanti Om failed to leave a mark at the box office.

Karan Arjun: Talk about this movie and you will remember the sight of Raakheeji saying, "Mere Karan Arjun aayenge." This tale of two brothers Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan who are separated in their early life is gut wrenching. The movie proved to be a huge blockbuster and continues to be one of the most successful movies in this genre.

Om Shanti Om: Starring Shah Rukh Khan once again, Om Shanti Om was an engaging tale of a wannabe-star to becomes the superstar in his second life. The spirit of Deepika Padukone continues to be a part of his life. The movie helped Deepika establish her mark in the film industry.

In the recent times, it was Sunny leone starrer Ek Paheli Leela which shared a similar plot. However, the movie failed miserably at the box office.
