From Anupam Kher as Manmohan Singh to Ranveer Singh in Gully Boy, 10 Biopics we just can’t wait to see in 2019

2018 gave us some amazing content-driven film. With 2019 coming in, we can expect Bollywood to bring forth some amazing biopics which promise to leave us all inspired. Take a look.

The year 2018 was a golden year in Bollywood. With so many good and content-driven films coming forth, our expectations from Bollywood have surely risen. 2018 also saw many biopics which not just entertained us, but also gave us all some inspiration. Be it Akshay Kumar fighting out menstrual taboo as Lakshmikant aka Arunachalam Muruganantham in Padman or Diljit Dosanjh portraying Sandeep Singh in Soorma, the stories of the unsung heroes left us hooked to the core. 

Now, with 2019, we can expect the baton of good cinema to be passed on to some extremely good filmmakers and actors who will be essaying some real-life characters with finesse and glory. In 2019, Bollywood is bringing forth a plethora of Biopics which will not just entertain the audience but will also inspire the good in all of us. Starting with The Accidental Prime Minister to the Kapil Dev’s 1983, here are the biopics we can expect from Bollywood in 2019. 

The Accidental Prime Minister- Anupam Kher as Dr Manmohan Singh

Based on the controversial book by Sanjaya Baru, The Accidental Prime Minister is one of the much awaited biopics in 2019. Starring Anupam Kher as former PM of India Dr Manmohan Singh, the trailer of the film was recently revealed which lead to major controversies among Politicians. However, amidst all this, we can’t wait to see Anupam Kher as the former PM and Akshaye Khanna as the media advisor. The film hits the theatres on January 11, 2019. 

Thackeray- Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Balasaheb Thackeray

Starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the famous Shiv Sena head, late Balasaheb Thackeray, Thackeray is one of those biopics which are surely going to cause a stir in the country. The movie’s trailer left everyone awestruck by Nawaz’s portrayal of the Maratha Moghul. The movie also stars Amrita Arora as Bal Keshav Thackeray’s wife and is being produced by MP and member of Shiv Sena, Sanjay Raut. The movie is slated to release on January 25, 2018.

Super 30-Hrithik Roshan as Anand Kumar

The much awaited biopic on the life of the Mathematics genius Anand Kumar, who runs an educational program called super 30, is going to entertain the audience in January 2019. The movie stars Hrithik Roshan as Anand Kumar and his first look surely left everyone intrigued. Super 30 also stars Mrunal Thakur and is slated to release on January 25, 2019. 

Saina Nehwal Biopic- Shraddha Kapoor as Saina Nehwal

Shraddha Kapoor will try to step into the shoes of the ace badminton player, Saina Nehwal in the untitled biopic on her life. The first look of the actor as Saina left very little room for discussion as Shraddha managed to make everyone believe that she is the badminton star herself. Shraddha also has undergone training for the film and we can expect to see that in the film too. The movie is being directed by Amol Gupte and we can expect to see it in theatres in 2019. 

Abhinav Bindra biopic-Harshvardhan Kapoor as Abhinav Bindra

The shooting star of India at Olympics, Abhinav Bindra will be portrayed on screen by Harshvardhan Kapoor. Harsh will be seen stepping into the shoes of the former World and Olympic champion in the 10 metre Air Rifle event. Harsh’s father, Anil Kapoor will also be seen in the movie playing Abhinav Bindra’s father. The movie will go on the floors in January 2019 and we can expect to see towards the end of the year. 

Shakeela- Richa Chadha as Shakeela

To play the bold and beautiful South adult film star, Shakeela, actress Richa Chadha was selected. The movie’s first look featured Richa in a never-seen-before sensuous look which surely left everyone awestruck. Richa will be playing the role of Shakeela who in 90’s was touted to be a threat to some of the leading southern superstars. We can expect to see it in theatres sometime this year. 

Saare Jahan Se Accha- Shahrukh Khan as Rakesh Sharma

Shah Rukh Khan is all set to step into the shoes of the first Indian in space, astronaut Rakesh Sharma with Saare Jahan Se Accha. Shah Rukh will start shooting for the same soon and we can expect to see him play the man who made history for India. SRK will be going to the US to prepare for the role as he wants to acquaint himself with the conditions in space. We can expect this biopic in 2019. 

1983 - Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev

Who doesn’t want to see the first time India won the world cup on screen? To fulfil that dream for all of us, Ranveer Singh will be stepping into the shoes of the 1983 Indian captain, Kapil Dev. The movie is titled 1983 and Ranveer will soon start shooting for the same. 1983 will be directed by Kabir Khan and is slated to release on April 5, 2019. 

Vikram Batra’s biopic- Sidharth Malhotra as Captain Vikram Batra

Sidharth Malhotra will be playing the role of the Kargil Martyr, Captain Vikram Batra in the untitled film. In an interview, Sidharth had claimed that playing the Param Vir Chakra Captain Vikram Batra is by far the toughest roles of his career. However, the actor is all set to start shooting for the same. The movie is being directed by Vishnu Varadhan and is being co-produced by Dharma Productions and Shabbir Boxwala. It is a biopic we can’t wait to see. 

Gully Boy - Ranveer Singh

The upcoming musical biopic on the life of rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy is surely one of the much awaited films of 2019. Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead, we can expect amazing performances from both given their past record of 2018. The movie will also be premiering at the Berlin Film Festival in February and is slated to release on February 14, 2019.

Interesting to Observe that all biopics being made on successful men in elite positions of different fields and proffesions. Looking at bios on women we only have one.. That too its being made for commercial element. Like no other women is worthy of bio pic from India..
