Akshay Kumar is an actor whose rags to riches story is an inspirational tale. From a chef in Bangkok to a 100-crore superstar, Akshay successfully made a name for himself amidst the Khans of Bollywood. But, it was not an easy journey for the actor. In his initial days, Akshay was given the nickname 'Khiladi Kumar' and starred in back-to-back action movies only. It was with films like Hera Pheri (2000) and Dhadkan (200) that showed Akshay's prowess as an actor.

With movies like Khiladi (1992), Mohra (1994), Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994) and Tu Chor Main Sipahi (1996), Akshay established himself as a bonafide action star.

It was Priyadarshan's 2000 cult comedy Hera Pheri that showed us the true comedic genius in Akshay. Thereafter, Kumar tackled with comedy gracefully and added his own charm and flavours in movies like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Garam Masala (2005), Welcome (2007), Housefull (2010) and Desi Boyz (2011).

Along with Hera Pheri, another 2000 film of Akshay's showcased his versatility as a performer and the movie was Dharmesh Darshan's Dhadkan. Though it was a supporting role, Akshay's raw emotions were displayed with finesse. He then went on to show his dramatic side in movies like Aitraaz (2004), Waqt: The Race Against Time (2005), Brothers (2015) and Airlfit (2016).
