11th October, 1942, a star was born! Amitabh Bachchan, a name in Bollywood that needs no introduction is a jewel that Indian Cinema gave us half a century ago. The actor made his debut in the film industry with  Khwaja Ahmad Abbas' Saat Hindustani. He not only made a great actor but also an incredible poet, playback singer and television host. Big B gave his voice for the first time in the song Mere Paas Aao in Mr. Natwarlal post which he gave a series of beautiful songs in his convincing voice. Many actors came, ruled and left the limelight but Amitabh Bachchan is the only 70's actor who still has his foot grounded in the industry and shows that Bollywood can never have another Amitabh Bachchan.

Today, as we celebrate the actors birthday, let's look upon some of his big blockbuster hits that prove Big B is irreplaceable in Bollywood:

Living up to the title of 'angry young man', Amitabh Bachchan delivered this blockbuster in the early 1970s. The actor had starred in a number of films before, but it is only Zanjeer that made him a star. Amit ji played the role of a truthful police inspector, Vijay and gave Bollywood a new trending genre, shifting from romance to action-packed dramas.

Deewar portrays Amitabh Bachchan as a smuggler and revolves around the rift between two brothers - Vijay, Amitabh Bachchan himself and Ravi played by Shashi Kapoor. There exists a certain boundary between the two which is depicted through the title of the film itself. Deewar was the fourth highest-grossing film of 1975 and it received the Filmfare award in the same year.

This cult classic needs no introduction! It is considered to be one of the biggest blockbuster hits in the history of Indian cinema. Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra played the iconic characters of Jai and Veeru while Hema Malini is remembered as Basanti. The movie was played at the Minerva Theatre in Mumbai for 5 years and continues to be one of our all-time favourites.

Being the life of the women-centric film, Amitabh Bachchan played the role of an ace advocate who fought against the injustice and harassment subjected to three young girls in the name of the law. Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang starred as the three girls caught in the clutches of a man with an influential political background who tricked them and falsely accused them after sexually harassing them himself.

The film brings together Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu once again after Pink where Big B is seen acing the role of a lawyer. The film was a mind buster that made the viewers think twice at every step as Mr. Bachchan was on his way to unfolding the mystery behind two deaths in the town. The story follows an interview between the lawyer and a businesswoman, her client who is being wrongfully framed for the two murders.
