Showing a teacher struggle in a new school, trying to overcome her speech defect in order to do justice to her profession, Hichki is an inspirational story featuring Rani Mukherjee as the lead. The story takes you through the life of Naina Mathur who aspires to become a teacher but a rare nervous disorder called the Tourette Syndrome puts a hindrance in her journey. Suffering from the disorder, she breaks into hiccups midway sentences and becomes a laughing stock for her students. She is given the task of managing a bunch of rebellious and trouble-making students who leave no stone unturned to put her down but she stands on her ground and takes care of them until they finally realize her worth.

Chak De! India

The story of a coach who is determined to clear the stigma attached to his name. The hockey player turned coach, who missed his chance to bring glory to his country, aims to coach the Indian National Women's Hockey team. Carefully studying the strengths and weak points of every team player, coach Kabir Khan practices with them day and night and strives towards perfection until the team wins the International Championship and proves his love for the game and for the country.

3 Idiots

Teaching one of the most important things in life, Rancho, a student explains how stress and too much pressure not only thwarts your education but also your career. The story revolves around the life of three engineering students where Aamir Khan as Rancho, preaches that one should pursue excellence, which once achieved, is followed by success. The film shows how the method of teaching plays an important role in shaping up a student's frame of mind and his future and how a student can also be a teacher sometimes.

Taare Zameen Par

Understanding the need for attention and care that a special child needs, Aamir Khan aces the role of a teacher who helps Ishaan, an eight-year-old dyslexic child explore his imagination after he faces hardships on being forced to move to a new school, away from his family. Aamir playing the best teacher one could ever have, threw light upon the fact that special children need special attention to overcome their problem with reading and writing. Using unconventional methods, he helped Ishaan to bring out the best in him and helped him regain his lost confidence.


Pictured on the life of Helen Keller and her teacher, Black shows Rani Mukherjee as Michelle, a deaf and blind girl. Taking up the challenge of taming the uncontrolled girl, Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of her teacher who spends day and night in shaping up her personality. His stern and harsh ways seem unpleasant in the beginning until it reveals how in the end, his teaching helped Michelle achieve her goals with flying colours.


Yet another inspirational story of a student-teacher bond. Iqbal is an aphonic boy aspiring to be a cricketer. He has an abundance of talent yet no experience until Naseeruddin Shah, an ex-cricketer steps in to guide him. With the dream of playing for the Indian National Cricket Team, Iqbal gets selected in the Andhra Pradesh Ranji Trophy team as coach Mohit, played by Naseeruddin Shah, trains him and helps him polish his skills.

Munnabhai M.B.B.S.

Featuring Sanjay Dutt as Munna, an absolute misfit for a medical student, the film is a laughter riot showing the cold war between Munna and the dean of the college. While it is necessary to follow the conventional ways of achieving a degree, the film explores the need for a healthy student and teacher relationship. It shows how a carefree and loving Munna earned the trust of the patients and students of the medical college that they chose him over the other doctors, implying the need to balance fun and work in life.
