England’s Liam Plunkett who has been in a great form in the tournament is confident of England’s approach towards the big clash. Australia definitely has an edge as far their previous encounters are concerned. In this World Cup, Australia defeated the hosts by a solid 64 runs where the England batting line-up crumbled to mere 221 runs.

However, the English fast bowler, Liam Plunkett believes that England team are a different kind of animal compared to their previous teams. “They’ve been there and done it before but not against this bunch of players. We’re a different sort of animals compared to our last teams,” Plunkett added.

He also said that the team has played well for the past four years and they are ranked number one and they feel in a good place. He mentioned that on their day, the team can beat anyone in the world. Plunkett stated that even though the team had amazing players, he never thought that they would win the World Cup and now they’ve made it exciting again.

England started out the tournament by being the favourites along with the Men in Blue. However, with two back to back losses the team struggled in the latter half of the tournament.

“I have played in teams where we didn’t expect to win. With this squad, the public expect us to win games and win series,” Plunkett said. However, when asked about him playing the next World Cup tournament, Plunkett said that, “I don’t think that I’ll play another World Cup so for me personally, it’s the biggest.”
