After defeating Australia in the semi-finals, the Eoin Morgan led side believes that the team needs to carry the same form in the finals against New Zealand. Morgan said that New Zealand is an extremely tough side with a lot of experience and skill. He also mentioned that they were the best in the group stage and has improved from the group stage to the semi-final performance.

However, even though England has been in an excellent form throughout the tournament, the Skipper says that, “I haven’t allowed myself to think about lifting the trophy.” He mentioned that cricket and sport in particular is very fickle; if you ever get ahead, it always seems to bite you in the backside.

On talking about the low total scores throughout the tournament, Morgan says that the scores have been a lot lower than they have previously here in the last three or four years. He also admitted that for them adjusting to that has been harder work than it normally is. The England skipper is also feels that he wouldn’t expect a high scoring match at the finals tomorrow at Lord’s. “New Zealand have done it brilliantly and Lord’s isn’t ever a high scoring ground. I would say tomorrow isn’t going to be a high scoring ground, so it will be a bit of a battle,” Morgan added.

Eoin Morgan also credited the former New Zealand Skipper, Brendon McCullum and said that they are close mates and he has taught him a lot about leadership. He also mentioned that the way New Zealand played in 2015 is very similar to the way they are playing at the moment.
