England cricket team on Wednesday defeated New Zeland in a must-win match to make it to the semifinals of the Cricket World Cup 2019. The hosts made sure to produce a dominating show to comfortbaly outplay Kiwis at Durham.

 

Earlier, after finding luck with the coin, England started off well. Openers, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstwo contiued their birillaint touch from the last match. They batted aggresively from the begining, putting pressure on Men in Black. The duo formed another big stand of 123 runs. Roy departed after making 60 runs while Bairstow went on to score his second consecutive hundred.

 

New Zealand somehow managed to pull back things as they scalped few early wickets. The hosts were reduced from 194 for one to 272-7 and lastly posted 305 runs on board. 

Chasing the target, Kiwis lost opener Henry Nicholls in the very first over while Martin Guptill followed him in the sixth one. Later, there was some partnership, however, English bowlers again unsettled the things for Kane Williamson and Co.

 

Kiwis kept losing wickets though Tom Latham played a good knock in between. He scored 57 runs before getting caught behind Liam Plunkett. New Zealand ended their innings on 186 for all, awarding England 119 runs win. 

With this victory, hosts finally qualified for the semifinals of the World Cup. They now have 13 points from all nine group games.
