As many as three umpiring errors during the first innings of the World Cup 2019 finals between England and New Zealand has put the focus back on poor umpiring standards in international cricket.

In the first instance, Henry Nicholls was given LBW off Chris Woakes in the third over of the innings by Kumar Dharmasena. However, the opener reviewed the decision, and replays suggested that the ball was missing the stumps.

In the second instance, Sri Lanka's Dharmasena was in focus again when he failed to spot a nick by Kane Williamson in the 23rd over. The bowler, Liam Plunkett and the English team took a review, and England got the decision in their favour.

In the third instance, it was Marais Erasmus who got it all wrong. Ross Taylor was give LBW off the bowling of Mark Wood in the 24th over. However, the ball was bouncing over the stumps, but Taylor could not review as Martin Guptill had wasted the lone review earlier.

Dharmasena had been in the news during the semis between England and Aystralia as well, when he had given Jason Roy out caught behind, even though the ball had brushed his shoulder. Roy didn't have a review left, and was furious at the decision.

This is not the first time that umpires have been in the news for their poor decsion making skills in the edition.

Twitteratis took to social media to voice their frustration at the umpiring standards.
