Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor have paired for the second time for Shree Narayan Singh's Batti Gul Meter Chalu. Well, Narayan Singh had previously delivered a hit at the box office - Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. Fans are excited for film as it's quite relatable and you can connect to the issue of electricity as we have face or have faced it at some point of our lives. This story is set in the land of Uttarakhand and it traces the tale of how inappropriate bills become a misery of a common-man's life.
But for any film, both content and box office figures are important. Friday is a BIG test and day 1 figures kind of tell you how much the film has able to attract the audience to the theatres. We got in touch with Girish Johar (Film & Trade Business Analyst) to know his take on the day 1 figures of Batti Gul Meter Chalu. He told us, "I am decently excited for Batti Gul Meter Chalu that is releasing tomorrow. I peg it at a particular number than how the film actually is and also taking the word-of-mouth in consideration. I peg it around Rs 5 crores on day 1."
"Shahid Kapoor is a well sort out actor and people do look forward to watching his films. A combination of Shahid, Shraddha, Yami Gautam along with Shree Narayan Singh, people are aware of and are decently excited for the film. It has a social message attached to it and the story has a desi touch to it. Desi stories connect to people we have seen. Rest, it depends the reviews it gets and word-of-mouth is very critical that is a game-changer," added Girish.
The film also stars Yami Gautam and Divyendu Sharma in the lead roles. Recently, we also got to meet Shahid and we asked him about his expectation from film. He told us, "Batti Gul is more accessible and is for families. It's commercial too at the same time but at its heart it's very relevant and it needs to be spoken about."
