EXCLUSIVE: Hansal Mehta to start Scam 3 on Sahara's Subrata Roy from May 13; Siddharth Bodke to play lead
The makers of Hansal Mehta’s Scam 3 are set to make an official announcement soon as it goes on floors from tomorrow, May 13.
After a successful crime drama series, Scam 1992 and winning acclaim for hard-hitting stories like Scoop, filmmaker Hansal Mehta is all set to begin work on the next chapter of the Scam franchise. Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that Scam 3 will be based on the life and controversies surrounding late Subrata Roy, an Indian businessman who founded Sahara India Pariwar in 1978.
The new season, which might be titled around the Sahara case, will trace the rise and fall of one of India’s most controversial business tycoons. Marathi and Hindi actor Siddharth Bodke has been roped in to play the lead role in the series. “Makers have been quietly prepping for the show over the last few months, with extensive research to scale the story on the Sahara saga,” reveals a source.
Hansal Mehta has emerged as one of the most credible storytellers when it comes to adapting real-life incidents for the screen. From bringing the stock market scandal alive in Pratik Gandhi starrer Scam 1992, Scam 2003: The Telgi Story (the second installment in Scam), to exploring investigative journalism in Scoop, the filmmaker has always kept the audience hooked with gripping dramas. With Scam 3, Mehta is once again getting into making a story that was once a talk of the town in India. The series is expected to stream in 2026.
