Kangana Ranaut has always impressed us with her acting prowess. She has fought against all odds and has always been strong headed. Now, the actor has donned the hat of a director with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and it wasn’t an easy task as no one was ready to back her, given her few films didn’t work at the box office. For her, to make a debut as a director was challenging. When we asked her about it, she revealed to us, “I think it got difficult because my films didn’t work. I think for people, it became difficult to trust me with money. The mathematics is very simple - if your film earns, then you can. I am sure after this film my credibility would be more and one flop wouldn’t hurt me.”

Kangana has gone through her own share of battles in her cinematic journey. “There has been a time when I was let down by my directors. There have been great performances but the movies haven’t lived up to the expectations. You will never know until you do it,” Kangana added. She further said directors are the unsung heroes of any movie. Kangana said that people have not been supportive of her decision to direct a movie.

“People have been so unappreciative of my directorial debut. Everyone is saying why am I directing as they love me as an actor. I think directors are unsung heroes. They don’t get paid that much barring a few who are producing their own films. Even the biggest status matters on who they signed on with and that’s why you see these directors going to all the big stars,” said the Queen actor.

Kangana’s Manikarnika has been in news for many controversies. The team had to reshoot the scenes. On this, Kangana said, “It’s very difficult when you have no one to back. It was unsettling to start with as we had to reshoot.”

The Queen of Jhansi is based on the life of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi and her war against the British East India Company, during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Kangana will be seen playing the role of the warrior Manikarnika.
