Madhoo Shah is an acclaimed Indian actress who has highly contributed to the Indian film industry. However, there are also stalwarts like Nana Patekar who have taught her a thing or two about acting. While talking exclusively to Pinkvilla, the actress shared that he learned method acting from him. Shah also recalled the incident when Patekar gave her a tight slap in the middle of a scene. Madhoo Shah recalls getting slapped by Nana Patekar on set

Known for films like Phool Aur Kaante, Roja, and Gentleman, actress Madhoo Shah was recently in an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, discussing her extensive career. This is when she revealed that it was veteran star Nana Patekar with whom she became a method actor.

Going back in time, the Kartam Bhugtam actress recalled working with the Welcome 4 actor in the 1997 film, Yeshwant. She revealed that for one scene, they had to put glycerine in their eyes and get ready. But the O'Romeo star said, ‘No glycerine. Feel it. The tears should come naturally.

She continued, “Toh, aansun nhi aa rahey they mujhey, toh unhoney, scene mein mujhey real ka thappad maara. Aur main itna gussa… kyunki vo rehearsal mein aesa nhi karte they. Unhoney mujhey shock kar diya tha take mein, unhoney real mein mujhey slap kar diya aur mein boht gussey wali ladki thi, aur aaj bhi hun. (My tears weren’t coming. So, he slapped me tightly in the scene. I was so angry because he doesn’t do this kind of stuff in the rehearsals. He shocked me. I was and am a very fierce woman.)”

Shah couldn’t control her anger and retaliated. “I got really angry, and I gave him one back, for real, in the take, as an artist. Mera reflex unko wapas maarney ka tha. (My reflex was to hit him back.) It was the most crucial scene of Yeshwant.”

She admitted that the slapping incident happened for real, in the master shot. “Jo real emotion nikla, uske baad pack up ho gaya. Half-day shooting. (The real emotions came out, and after that, the shoot was packed up.) So, I learned method acting from Nana Ji,” the artist concluded.
