EXCLUSIVE: Samriddhi Shukla on struggle of filming Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai for 12 hours: ‘30 days a month shoot karte hai’

For people outside the entertainment industry, it must look like walking on a bed of roses every day. The anticipated glamour looks enticing and attracts many towards it. But only those who have been here for long know the real struggle that happens behind the scenes. While talking exclusively to Pinkvilla, TV star Samriddhi Shukla bared it all.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actress Samriddhi Shukla was in an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, speaking about her rising career and the reality of the television industry. When asked how challenging it is to shoot for a show that airs 7 days a week, the young actress expressed that working straight 12 hours is normal in the TV industry. Sometimes, the hours could also extend to 16.
Giving the audience an idea of what happens behind the curtains, she added that the industry is glamorous with lots of perks. But the actors also have to make many sacrifices, which the audience doesn’t know about.

Talking about the longest-running show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, she said, “Issmein maine 30 days a month shoot karte hai. Boht kum mujhey production ke side se chutti milti hai kyunki agar aap main lead kar rahe ho, usually you’re there everywhere. (In this show, we shoot 30 days a month. Very rarely, I get a holiday from the side of production because if you’re the main lead, you are everywhere.)
Having said that, Shukla admitted that no one is to be blamed here. Sharing the reason behind it, she expressed that if the people at the top have decided that they will air the show for all seven days, the actors have to film their part/
She further admitted that the production team on her show is brilliant. “They try to do whatever they can to give us an easy atmosphere. But because of the format, it is tough,” exclaimed the TV fame.
For the unversed, Samriddhi started her television journey with Saavi Ki Savaari before she joined Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai with Rohit Purohit in 2023.
