In an exclusive interview, senior journalist Jyothi Venkatesh spoke of the time when Shah Rukh Khan claimed he will make the audience feel pain through his acting.
Shah Rukh Khan has become a legend, an icon, and, as touted by many, the king of Bollywood. But this isn’t something that happened to him by luck. Apparently, he manifested being the undisputed king of the Hindi film industry years ago. In an exclusive chat with Hindi Rush, senior journalist Jyothi Venkatesh revealed that Shah Rukh told him confidently, “I will rule Bollywood.”
When Shah Rukh Khan manifested, he would rule Bollywood
Bollywood’s superstar Shah Rukh Khan had a humble start with working minor roles and starring in TV shows. However, years ago, when he was struggling to cement his position in the industry, he crossed paths with senior journalist Jyothi Venkatesh during a film’s shoot. Upon seeing him on set, SRK requested him to come to his room for dinner and some chit chat.
While exclusively talking to Hindi Rush, Jyothi opined that there’s a lot of difference between Shah Rukh of the 90s and today. According to the media veteran, the Om Shanti Om actor was not a diplomat back then. Apparently, he was blunt and wouldn’t hesitate to express what came to his mind.
“He would say, ‘I will rule Bollywood.’ He had said this. That kind of confidence was in him,” spilled Venkatesh. SRK further told the journalist, “I don't know what kind of films actors do. I will make films that will make the audience feel the pain after watching them. Mothers will think 'This is my son,' and wives will think ‘I wish he were my husband,' and kids will think ‘Wish he were my father.’”

Senior journalist further opined that the king of romance didn't say anything against anyone. He was very to the point, sincere in his approach, and he knew where to do what. Nearly a decade ago, when the media professional met Khan again, the actor told him, ‘I don't get a single penny for acting nowadays. Acting I do for free, but for big banners and directors. I don't get money from them. But the money that I earn from advertisements, I maintain my lifestyle with that.”
When asked if there were any changes in the nature and temperament between the Shah Rukh who worked in the 1989 Indian television series, Circus, and the one he met 10 years ago, Jyothi Venkatesh quipped, “There’s no change. He is the same Shah Rukh, but he’s busier now.”
On the work front, SRK will be next seen in King with Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, and others.
