According to sources, "Teaser is high on drama, emotions…Aamir Khan has lent his voice for the teaser narration, and it adds tremendous impact to it." The collaboration has already generated significant buzz, especially because Batwara 1947 marks the reunion of Sunny Deol and filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi after cult classics like Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak. The actor-director duo is known for delivering emotionally charged films that have stood the test of time, and expectations from their latest collaboration are sky-high.
Insiders confirm that the teaser has been cut, keeping the scale, emotion, and patriotic backdrop at the forefront, making it a perfect launch ahead of the Independence Day release window. With Sunny Deol leading the film and Aamir Khan contributing to the teaser through a special voice-over, Batwara 1947 is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about releases of the year.
For the unversed, the upcoming period drama was initially titled Lahore 1947. It is based on the famous play ‘Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya’. The film is produced by Aamir Khan, who will also be seen in a supporting role with Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal, and Shabana Azmi in supporting roles.
During an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla in 2023, Rajkumar Santoshi said, "Sunny and I were trying to make a film for a long time but nothing worked out. But now, I am confident that this film will be bigger than Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak."
"We will be creating Lahore City in a studio. The set is a part of the story and a large chunk of film will be shot on this set. It’s a very ambitious film,” he added.
